Summer, 2007 - Art from Junk Mail

We are going to be working with kids through the Seattle Police Department this summer. We'll be there for two days a week apart. The first day we'll be teaching them how to make paper from junk mail. Then we'll come back to help them create art with the paper they made.

December, 2006 - Christmas Cards

In December we held a card making workshop for the moms at Vine Maple Place, a transitional housing facility in Maple Valley, WA. Four of us designed holiday cards and put together packettes of the materials needed to make three cards of that design. The mom's moved around the table, making their cards. At the end they each had a dozen cards to send for the holidays. We also supplied envelopes and postage.

January, 2007 - Bookmaking

In January we held a bookmaking class for a troup of Girl Scouts. There were 12 girls and each one created a 5 by 6" book with accordian pages with a ribbon tie closure. They were working on a crafting badge and this was their final project. The girls did a great job!

March, 2007 - Tile Painting

We went back to Vine Maple Place! Their annual auction is coming up in May and we worked with the moms and kids to paint ceramic tiles. Then we put those tiles into a frame around a mirror and it will be one of the auction items. I think the moms will like being part of the fund raising.

June, 2007- Beaded Pens

We participated in the Maple Valley Days celebration this year. Working with the Maple Valley Arts Council we had a table set up so that kids who came to see the gallery show could make a beaded pen. The kids loved it so much that several of them went and got there parents and brought them back to make a pen. It was fun because the kids could teach their partents how to do something.
